March Meeting

The March meeting will cover growing your orchids under lights. We will discuss the kind of lighting that is suitible for orchids as well as the best kinds of orchids to grow. Whether you have run out of window sill space or are planning a basement growing area, this is the information you need to know.

The meeting is Mar. 20 at 1:30 at Olbrich Gardens (judging starts at 1:00).

Spring Plant Sale

The Spring Sale is at Olbrich on Saturday before Easter- March 26. Duties include pricing plants and contact with public in selling plants. So far Don Fago, Judy Stevenson, Liz Wood, and Lorraine Snyder have volunteered to help out at the Spring Sale. Once again- many hands make light work- not too mention –it’s just more fun! Please volunteer at this months meeting or email Brook (orchids@tinamoupottery.com).

Feb. overview

According to Alliant, attendance for the past 6 years is as follows:
2000-2,548
2001-2,477
2002-2,372
2003-1,900
2004-1,687
2005-1,979
It may not have been a record breaker as far as attendance but the vendors were extremely happy. Thank yous were received from Hermann Pigors of Oak Hill; Kathleen and Terry Partin of Everything Orchids, Purple Clay Pottery and R+K Tropicals and Gems. Vendors complimented the members of OGG on the way members helped in many aspects. Some people unloaded orchids; others checked to make sure vendors didn’t need anything through out the day. The help and happiness was very much appreciated.

An item that was overlooked at the December Holiday Party was the Exhibit Award for the person with the most points earned for helping set up and take down exhibits. The award for 2004 was Cleo Kiergaard. A gift certificate will be sent. Please accept the apologies from the board and from the “point-counter” for this omission at the Holiday party.
