November 21 Meeting at Orchids by the Ackers

This will be a very exciting meeting because we will be starting two orchid growing contests. Every member in attendance will receive one Phrag. seedling and one mature Phal.

Contest 1 - Grow the best Phrag.
This contest lasts for one year. Every member will receive the same cultivar and age Phrag. The goal is to grow this plant for one year. At the Nov 2005 meeting, Chuck will judge which Phrag was grown the best and award that person a prize. Your plant need not have bloomed to win.

Contest 2 - Survive and Thrive
For this contest, every member will be given a different mature Phal that is completely root bound and in need of a transplant. Along with the plant, you will receive one plastic pot. The goal of this contest is to have your plant in flower to be judged Jan. of 2006. If your plant blooms before the judging day, a photo entry will be acceptable.

Chuck Acker is going to give a talk as well. Maybe he will even give some advice on how to grow a prize winning Phrag.

Remember to bring your plants in for ribbon judging.

Renew Your Membership

Remember that membership dues are due by the end of the year. You can fill out a membership form and give it to Steve at the November meeting. Download the pdf form here.
